Trails in Motion Festival

Starts off the Elephant Trail Race for 2018

Elephant Trail Race  and COASTAL Track and Trail Runners CTTR are Co-hosting the Trails in Motion Festival to start off all the Elephant Trail Race fun this year. There will be a meet and greet at 8.40pm and at 8.45pm Domino's Pizza (sponsor) will be delivering lots of yummy pizza to help carbo load everyone and start off the night. Seated at 9pm.  ETR will be giving away lots of prizes and I have even heard there may be a Ledlenser headlamp up for grabs.

Elephant Trail Race and COASTAL Track and Trail Runners are very excited to bring the festival to town. It is showcasing a Aussie runner this year winter Paralympian, Michael Milton. I (Kerry) was lucky enough to run a little bit of the UTA22 with Michael this year. He is truly an inspirational man.

There is limited seating this year, so get in and get your tickets. ETR does have some tickets to give away so check out the Elephant Trail Race Facebook page for all details on how to win these.

Australian talent features in international trail running film festival

The international Trails in Motion Film Festival will be screened around Australia between June and August and for the first time in its 6 year history will show an Aussie film.

Best Foot Forward is the story of Australia’s most successful winter Paralympian, Michael Milton and his attempt to complete his first ever ultra-marathon, the 50km long Ultra-Trail Australia (UTA) race in the Blue Mountains. UTA attracts thousands of runners from all over the world every year. It was started 11 years ago by Tom Landon-Smith and Alina McMaster from AROC Sport (now AMTL Events).  The pair are former competitive cross-country skiers which is how they know Milton. Now their young children go to the same school in Canberra.

“We’ve known Milto for years and followed his career on snow and off. We all catch up at school drop-off and chat about what we’re up to. When he mentioned he’d like to have a go at the 50km UTA ultra-marathon, we were immediately on board.  It was a no brainer. To have him at our event was a huge win for us but to witness his preparation and then the attempt was a great privilege. He is one stubborn bastard,” said Landon-Smith.

Best Foot Forward is one of eight films to be screened as part of the Trails in Motion Film Festival which has already been screened in venues across Europe, the US, Canada and Africa. The Australian tour includes all Australian capital cities as well as some regional areas. For details on locations and to purchase tickets online go to

The last word belongs to Milton who is thrilled with the final product:

“Making a film like this is not easy. It’s time-consuming and demanding but RedGadget Films did an amazing job. The festival is not just for runners. There is some amazing scenery in some pretty awesome locations as well as seven other incredible stories. They’re kid-friendly and packed with adventure and emotion.”
